Herman Melville Museum

CRITIC FRED BIEHLE

For our design studio we were tasked with designing a museum based on a critical analysis of Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick”. My museum is broken up into a Library, Chapel. and Walkway.

The Library acts as the museum's main attraction which is subdivided into three spaces: The Information Center, The Archive, and The Stacks.

The Chapel is a space for self reflection in a quiet, nondenominational space.

The Walkway is a bifurcating two-level strand that weaves throughout the museum stitching all elements of the program together.
